Job description

To provide engineering support as directed to both internal and external customers and to assist EPC-UK in maintaining its lead in the UK’s explosives and services sectors.

The EPC Metrics Explosives Engineer will primarily be tasked with undertaking Metrics Engineering services and equipment calibrations as directed by the Senior Explosives Engineer, ensuring services are delivered on time and to standard with supporting invoices raised via the Sales Office.

Other engineering projects and activities may be assigned in accordance with business needs to support ongoing activities and supply including but not limited to product assessment, development, and testing, supporting delivery of industry training courses / seminars and contribute to the development of EPC Groupe technology / processes through the application of scientific methodologies.

Role and Responsibilities
  • The maintenance of safe and best practice in all activities
  • Compliance with company procedures and practices
  • Development of company procedures to support new and emerging technologies
  • Undertaking of site drone surveys
  • Data processing services such as fragmentation and blast performance analysis based on EPC Services captured data and customer needs
  • Vibration monitoring and upkeep of vibration monitoring units both fixed and portable
  • Calibration and upkeep of blasting equipment
  • Project / Blast consultancy support work, including statistical analysis
  • Maintaining good customer relations
  • Contribution to the development of bespoke technologies and practices applying rigorous scientific methods
  • Assist in the enhancement and maintenance of the EPC-Metrics technical and engineering image
  • The provision of technical and engineering support to both internal and external customers at the direction of the business
  • Support delivery of industry training and seminars
  • Maintain a high level of personal technical competence in all products and processes employed by the company in its operational activities within Explosives and Services
Qualifications/Education required
  • Degree in a science or engineering discipline preferably related to mining, quarrying or geology.
Experience Required

Minimum of 5 years in a role involving the use of explosives in an industrial environment.

  • Explosives Supervisor (or equivalent)Experience with blast design software
