The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) is seeking a highly responsible and experiencedMagazine Managerto join the Energetics Enclosure (EE) team. This is a newly established position following a review of Dstl’s energetics safety requirements.

As part of the Energetics Enclosure Management Team (EEMT), you will be accountable for the safe, secure, and compliant management ofOrdnance, Munitions & Explosives(OME) throughout their lifecycle, from receipt to disposal. Your role will be crucial in maintaining high standards of safety, security, and regulatory compliance.

Job description

In this role you will:

• Safely manage OME within the EE and other designated areas, overseeing receipt, storage, issue, transport, use, and disposal.
• Provide expert technical guidance on OME storage and regulatory compliance.
• Ensure procedural compliance across all OME management activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting of all energetic holdings and report to the Explosive Accounts Officer and relevant stakeholders.
• Store and secure all data and stockpiles in accordance with required security classifications.
• Manage OME under bans or constraints, ensuring appropriate quarantine and availability for project teams.
• Oversee and ensure full annual verification of OME holdings, particularly those designated ACTO (Attractive to Criminal and Terrorist Organisations).

We looking for someone who has:

Qualifications:

• GCSEs in Mathematics and English at grade 4/C or above (or equivalent qualifications).

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience managing an energetics storage facility.
• In-depth understanding of explosive storage management and associated regulations.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience managing teams and supervising individuals.
• Ability to identify and implement procedural improvements.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high standards.
• Full UK driving licence (manual).
