Job summary

Blackstone Education is recruiting an Expert Led Occupational Therapist to join a client in the Hillingdon area on a temp or permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering an Experts at Hand model of practice in mainstream schools, training staff and supporting whole-school intervention plans.

You will work across Hillingdon, Uxbridge and Isleworth, leading universal strategies and targeted interventions, supervising Therapists and Assistants, and contributing to EHCP/ISP processes as required.

Qualifications

• Must hold HCPC registration and a relevant OT degree (BSc or MSc).
• Proven supervisory experience within education or clinical settings.
• Experience in delivering professional supervision and developing training programs.

Responsibilities

Blackstone Education are working with a client based in Hillingdon who are looking to recruit an Expert Led Occupational Therapist to join their team on either a Temp or Permanent basis.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and motivated Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our expanding multi-disciplinary team working primarily in mainstream school settings within the Hillingdon, Uxbridge and Isleworth area to build and deliver the Experts at Hand model of practice.

This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the area's inclusive education strategy. In this vital role, you will implement universal strategies and targeted interventions across mainstream schools. By delivering high-quality workforce development, you will empower school staff to confidently lead and support whole-school intervention planning.

You will:

• Deliver staff training and consultation.
• Support schools with sensory and functional participation needs.
• Support sensory supportive environments.
• Supervise Therapists and Assistants.
• Support EHCP/ISP processes and annual reviews where necessary and appropriate.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary intervention planning.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary and teaching teams across various school settings you will ensure that interventions are modelled and effectively integrated into school life. A key function is equipping key adults with the skills to confidently support pupils in achieving their therapy goals. Operating through a graduated response model aligned with the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring children and young people receive the right level of support at the right time.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven track record in educational environments, paired with the strong communication skills necessary to influence key stakeholders.

Essential Criteria

• BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC registration.
• Supervisory Experience.
• Experience working at a specialist level with this client group in a similar setting.
• Highly experienced in providing professional and clinical supervision.
• Highly experienced in developing training.

Desirable

• Experience of implementing universal strategies and targeted interventions.
• Experience working with complex behaviours.
• Experience completing assessments for Education, Health, and Care Plans.
• Specialist CPD and/or training.
• Trauma-Informed care experience.
• Experience working with paediatric social, emotional, and mental health needs.
