Experienced Veterinary Surgeon Required

Are you an ambitious Veterinary Surgeon looking to progress your career in an exciting, state-of-the-art, modern practice?

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated professional to join our ever growing, busy, independent veterinary practice, based in Ponteland, Northumberland.

The Role

  • An experienced Veterinary surgeon required, with a senior vet role/clinical directorship available if interested.
  • Flexible Working Options – Part-time or Full-time hours considered.
  • A varied and interesting case load, with clinical freedom to lead case workups from initial consult through to surgery (all consults are 20 minutes as standard).
  • Our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge as a Veterinary Surgeon – with opportunity to progress to a senior role.
  • A practice where certificates and ‘specific areas of interest’ are encouraged and supported.
  • Ideally one weeknight evening on call from home and one in 4 weekends on call from home with nursing support, covering a relatively steady OOH service for our clients only. (Negotiable for the right person).

Our Package

  • Salary of up to £85,000 plus benefits for FTE based on experience and extra qualifications.
  • Option for practice partnership/shareholding should it be of interest.
  • Generous annual leave of 6.6 weeks.

  • Our practice is extensively equipped, including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, bronchoscope, gastroscope, full dental equipment, laparoscopic surgical equipment, considerable orthopaedic equipment, BOAS equipment, glass walled theatre, multi-parameter monitoring and an array of supportive visiting specialists.
  • A clinical team made up of our clinical director, three experienced RVN’s and two SVN’s.

About you

  • We are looking for someone who is kind, conscientious and enthusiastic in their work.
  • An individual who is a confident clinician, who is happy to manage their own cases, share ideas, discuss complex cases, and direct some sole charge.
  • The ideal candidate should be a good all-rounder; we are however, very much interested to hear from vets with more specialist interests.
  • We are looking for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
