Job summary

Isle of Wight Council is recruiting a Social Worker to join Adult Social Care in Newport. You will assess adults and carers, develop person-centred care plans and coordinate work with health and voluntary partners to deliver timely decisions.

You will lead safeguarding activities, manage a complex caseload and provide mentoring to junior staff, with opportunities to deputise for a Senior Social Worker when required. Flexible working and professional development are supported.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker registered with a relevant body.
• Experience in adult social care and safeguarding.
• Knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act.

Responsibilities

• Support adults and carers to complete needs assessments that build on strengths, networks and community resources.
• Develop effective care plans, manage risk and promote positive outcomes.
• Provide guidance and support to other social care staff, including mentoring newly qualified practitioners.
