Job summary

Matchtech Group seeks an experienced Site Engineer with a geology background to join its permanent team in Hungerford. This 100% site-based role supports ground investigation projects across the UK.

Responsibilities include conducting site and ground investigations, handling equipment safely, recording data, and coordinating with senior engineers, clients and subcontractors. Travel away from home will be required on UK projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in site investigation contracting is essential.
• Knowledge of geology, ground conditions and geotechnical techniques.
• Experience in a practical, site-based engineering or ground investigation environment.
• Ability to use site investigation equipment and follow technical instructions.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements on active construction sites
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a site team.
• Reliable, adaptable and willing to travel and stay away from home when necessary.
• A geology-related qualification would be advantageous.

Our client, a specialist provider of geotechnical, geo-environmental and ground investigation services, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a geology background to join its permanent team in Hungerford. This is a full-time, site-based role supporting ground investigation projects across the UK.

• Undertaking site investigation and ground investigation activities in accordance with project specifications
• Supporting the delivery of geotechnical and geo-environmental site works across a range of sectors
• Operating and assisting with site investigation equipment safely and effectively
• Recording accurate site information and monitoring ground conditions during investigations
• Working closely with senior engineers, project teams, clients and subcontractors on site
• Following all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and supporting efficient project delivery
• Working away from home when required to support UK-wide projects

Job Requirements:

• Experience in site investigation contracting is essential
• Knowledge of geology, ground conditions and geotechnical investigation techniques
• Experience working in a practical, site-based engineering or ground investigation environment
• Ability to use site investigation equipment and follow technical instructions
• Understanding of health and safety requirements on active construction and investigation sites
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a site team
• Reliable, adaptable and willing to travel and work away from home when necessary
• A relevant qualification in geology, earth sciences, geotechnical engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous

This is a 100% site-based position with no office-based or report-writing duties. Previous consultancy-only experience will not meet the requirements of the role; practical site investigation contracting experience is essential.
