Job summary

Hartmore School in Gloucester is seeking an experienced Primary Class Teacher for our Stroud Road provision. You will lead a small mixed‑ability class of around 5-6 pupils, teaching across the curriculum with experienced teaching assistants, and provide a vital pastoral role to support social, emotional and academic growth.

You will teach a Key Stage Two class, supporting learners working below age‑related expectations in a highly nurturing, trauma‑informed environment.

Qualifications

• QTS and completion of the 2-year ECT induction.
• Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
• Strong behaviour management and safeguarding knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A commitment to collaboration and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach a small primary class across the curriculum with SEMH needs.
• Plan and deliver differentiated lessons and trauma‑informed practice.
• Lead whole‑school development in curriculum areas.
• Provide daily pastoral oversight and support transitions.
• Review schemes of work, monitor standards, and support colleagues.

The Role: Experienced Primary Class Teacher (Not suitable for ECTs)

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, resilient and skilled teacher to lead a small, mixed‑ability class of around 5-6 pupils in our primary provision in Stroud Road Gloucester. You will teach across the curriculum, supported by experienced teaching assistants and play a vital pastoral role in helping pupils grow socially, emotionally and academically.

You will be teaching a Key Stage Two age class and supporting learners who will be working below age‑related expectations and require a highly nurturing, adaptive approach.

You will play an active role in whole‑school development, providing leadership in areas such as subject planning.

This role is ideal for a teacher who is:

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

Teach across the curriculum to a small primary class.

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEMH needs.

Build positive, learning environments using trauma‑informed approaches.

Deliver creative, engaging lessons to re‑engage learners.

Create and maintain a positive, structured and trauma‑informed classroom environment.

Track progress, assess learning and contribute to review processes.

Lead whole‑school development in a curriculum area.

Review schemes of work, monitor standards, and support colleagues.

Pastoral Care

Provide daily pastoral oversight for your student group.

Support pupils in managing transitions, developing personal goals and progressing to the next stage of their learning journey.

Essential Experience & Qualities

QTS and completion of the 2‑year ECT induction

Minimum of 3 years’ post‑qualification experience

Strong behaviour management and safeguarding knowledge

Excellent communication and organisational skills

A commitment to collaboration and professional growth

Full manual driving license

Experience in an SEMH/SEND setting and trauma‑informed practice

Curriculum leadership, knowledge of the Forest School programme.
