Experienced Practice Nurse or Nurse Associate

JOB TITLE: PRACTICE NURSE
REPORTS TO: NURSE MANAGER/THE PARTNERS (Clinically), THE PRACTICE MANAGER (Administratively)
HOURS: XX hours per week

Job Summary: To assist medical personnel in the care of Practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Providing assessment, screening, treatment services, and health education advice.
  2. Organising and coordinating nursing services for the Practice, including delegation of duties to other nursing staff as appropriate.
  3. Providing nursing treatments in collaboration with GPs or independently following protocols.
  4. Conducting health screenings and referring patients to GPs as necessary.
  5. Advising patients on health care and minor ailments, with referrals to GPs as needed.
  6. Maintaining treatment room and equipment, including stock levels and cleanliness.
  7. Collecting, storing, and dispatching pathological specimens following training, ensuring equipment hygiene.
  8. Performing investigatory procedures requested by GPs.
  9. Participating in administrative and professional responsibilities, including accurate record-keeping and documentation.
  10. Attending Practice meetings, contributing to practice policies, and participating in research projects.
  11. Participating in education and training of staff and students.
  12. Maintaining effective liaison with other agencies and staff, respecting confidentiality.
  13. Engaging in professional development through courses and study days.
  14. Upholding confidentiality and data protection policies.
  15. Promoting health and safety in accordance with Practice policies.
  16. Supporting equality, diversity, and patients' rights.
  17. Participating in personal and professional development activities.
  18. Maintaining quality standards and contributing to team effectiveness.
  19. Ensuring effective communication within the team and with patients and carers.
  20. Applying practice policies and participating in audits.
