Pulse AHP’s Phlebotomy Team is currently recruiting for experienced Phlebotomists/Healthcare Support Workers to join the team for a role based in the Cumbria area.

These roles will be working locally in the Cumbria area providing Phlebotomy & Healthcare Research services. To be successful in this role, you MUST have at least 1 year’s experience in drawing blood and proof of competency as a phlebotomist.

This is an established programme seeking new candidates as it moves into its next phase.

Position Details:
  • Position: Phlebotomist/Healthcare Support Worker

  • Hours: 2-3 days per week, shift patterns vary

  • Essential skills:
  • Recent phlebotomy experience of at least 12 months
  • Proof of competency
  • Driver’s license is highly beneficial due to mobile sites

We are looking for experienced phlebotomists with HCA experience to work at least 2-3 days per week in a 7-day service. Shifts are long, between 7.45am – 6.15pm, with Saturday hours from 8.45am – 5.15pm and Sunday hours from 10.45am – 4.15pm.

Positions are available from November in areas including Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal, Barrow-In-Furness, Whitehaven, and Workington. These roles will last until at least May 2025.

The sites are mobile and rotate every 4-5 weeks, so driving and flexibility to work at different locations are advantageous.

The pay rate is up to £20 per hour (umbrella rate), with weekend enhancements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Complete POCT cholesterol checks, including height, weight, waist measurements, heart rate, blood pressure, and data entry.
  • Draw and label two blood samples per participant, ensuring correct storage.
  • Monitor participant welfare, escalate issues as needed.
  • Provide signposting, advice, and guidance.
  • Prepare samples for courier collection at each shift’s end.
Essential Requirements:
  • Recent phlebotomy experience of at least 12 months.
  • Willing to fully register with our agency.
