A leading healthcare service provider in Llanelli is offering a full-time position for an Occupational Therapist focusing on adult mental health services. An exciting and opportunity has arisen for a full time qualified Occupational Therapist to develop their clinical skills under the Occupational Therapy Career Framework working in Adult Mental Health at Bryngofal ward, based at Prince Phillip Hospital in Llanelli.
Adult Mental Health Service (AMH) are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a specific interest in AMH and passion for working with people with functional mental health issues. This post is a fantastic opportunity to develop the Occupational Therapy role in inpatient environment and contribute to service developments. The key aims of the service include proactive care, providing an inclusive and multi-disciplinary pathway enabling people to improve function and return to their home of choice.
The successful applicant will be responsible for autonomously holding an Occupational Therapy caseload for clients with functional mental health issues on Bryngofal ward, which includes those with complex presentations. This will involve selecting and undertaking evidence-based assessments, developing holistic and person-centred goals and care plans, delivering interventions, evaluating outcomes and adapting plan of care based on outcomes.
The post holder will be keen to develop best practice in compliance with A Healthier Wales, and will maintain close links with Community Mental Health Teams in AMH as well as other services to support patients on discharge.
The post holder will be required to develop positive relationships between all healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, maintaining good communication across all areas. You will have the benefit of working with and providing Supervision for an OT Technicians and will be expected to act as clinical Supervisor to Undergraduate students.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The successful applicant will be proactive in developing their clinical skills and competencies, within this specialist field. Occupational Therapists within Hywel Dda have access to regular supervision and annual PADRs. Continuing professional development opportunities include attending Clinical Practice meetings, Clinical Case Supervision, Peer Support opportunities, Occupational Therapy specific training and opportunities to engage in Post Graduate Qualifications.
Bryngofal unit is situated within the site of Prince Philip Hospital in, Llanelli. Llanelli is a market town and the largest community in Carmarthenshire located on the Loughor estuary only 10.5 miles from Swansea.
