Job Description:

Torftech is a design engineering and intellectual property business specializing in licensing and selling proprietary TORBED and TORWAVE processors (www.torftech.com). These devices are used across industries such as food, minerals, and waste management for processes like gas scrubbing and calcination, designed to enhance efficiency and process intensification.

The TORWAVE technology enables microwave processing of materials, overcoming traditional obstacles and supporting initiatives like hydro-carbon substitution, waste recycling, and energy efficiency. We are a small, close-knit team driven by curiosity and intellectual rigour. As our business expands, we seek an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join us, ideally to succeed our current engineer nearing retirement.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will work independently after familiarization with our technologies and will eventually oversee the mechanical engineering department. Responsibilities include conceptual design, CAD drawing, review of manufacturing drawings, fault diagnosis, maintenance planning, testing, supplier liaison, and supporting procurement.

Required qualifications and skills include a degree in Engineering or a related field, extensive experience in high-temperature industrial processes and materials handling, familiarity with gas/solid processing, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to work remotely. All candidates must have valid UK residence and work permits.
