About the role

We have built a Laravel powered app that integrates eCommerce stores with backend ERP systems. At its core it enables the synchronization of Order Management, Products, Fulfilment, Shipping, Payments and more. We built an intuitive dashboard with Filament to provide clients with a comprehensive view and insights. You will work at the cutting edge of AI-assisted development, leveraging AI tools (we are currently using Claude Code) to edit codebases, perform automated code reviews, and explore agentic AI workflows. This role focuses on advancing our development process with AI while maintaining high code quality.

What you'll do

• Application Development: Write quality, maintainable, and scalable code and continue the development of our software, leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity while maintaining code quality standards.
• Integration Development: Create robust integrations for different eCommerce stores and ERP systems using APIs and explore how AI can streamline integration processes.
• Codebase Maintenance: Maintain and optimize the current codebase, including refactoring and improving performance, potentially using automated AI code review processes.
• Issue Refinement: Collaborate with the team to refine and prioritise GitHub issues and align them with project goals for upcoming sprints.
• AI Innovation & Adoption: Participate in exploring and implementing advanced AI development tools, including AI agents and command-line AI workflows.
• Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor junior team members and share knowledge about AI-assisted development techniques.
• Client Support: Address technical questions and issues promptly and effectively.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Solid experience writing quality, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) with understanding of their limitations and opportunities.
• Ability to leverage AI tools creatively while maintaining code quality and collaborating with AI.
• Knowledge of message queue systems and API integration techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proven experience as a PHP developer with a strong focus on Laravel (or other mature frameworks like Symfony, Ruby on Rails, Next.js, Django, LiveView, etc.).
• Full proficiency in PHP and related technologies (MySQL, Linux CLI, Apache, Nginx, or Caddy, etc.).
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks); experience with CSS frameworks like Tailwind or Bootstrap.
• Experience with Git and containerization tools such as Docker and Docker Compose.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with advanced AI development features such as AI agents that edit codebases, automated code review processes, or command-line AI workflows.
• Familiarity with integration protocols and AI enhancement technologies.
• eCommerce knowledge and experience.
• Web security experience.
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, Digital Ocean, etc.).
• Familiarity with CI/CD technologies and processes.
• Linux systems administration or DevOps experience.
