Job summary

Penguin Recruitment seeks an Experienced Architectural Technician/Technologist to join a Preston-based practice. You will produce detailed drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, develop designs from concept to construction, and coordinate with teams across healthcare, education, commercial sectors.

Ideal candidates have UK architectural experience, hold or pursue CIAT accreditation, and are versed in Building Regulations. Competitive salary and supportive environment offered.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Architectural Technology (HNC/HND or degree) with UK practice exposure.
• Proven ability to produce detailed construction information.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD within a BIM environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications and construction information using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Develop design solutions from concept through construction stages.
• Prepare planning, Building Regulations, and tender documentation.
• Coordinate design information with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors and clients.
• Support BIM coordination and ensure project information is accurate and compliant.
• Attend design, client and site meetings through project delivery.
• Resolve technical design challenges with practical construction solutions.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and industry standards.

Daily Duties

• Producing detailed technical drawings, specifications and construction information using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Developing technical design solutions from concept through to construction stages.
• Preparing planning, Building Regulations, and tender documentation.
• Coordinating design information with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Supporting BIM coordination and ensuring project information is accurate, consistent, and compliant.
• Attending design meetings, client meetings and site visits throughout project delivery.
• Resolving technical design challenges and providing practical construction solutions.
• Ensuring compliance with current Building Regulations, industry standards and best practice.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
• Supporting the delivery of projects across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, sports and leisure, and heritage.

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced Architectural Technician or Architectural Technologist with a strong background within a UK architectural practice or design consultancy.
• Qualified to HNC, HND, degree level or equivalent in Architectural Technology.
• Strong technical knowledge with proven experience producing detailed construction information.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD, with experience working within a BIM environment.
• Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods and technical detailing.
• Experience working across multiple stages of the RIBA Plan of Work would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and project teams.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• A proactive approach with a passion for delivering high‑quality technical solutions.
• Working towards or holding professional accreditation with CIAT would be advantageous.
