Qualifications

  • NPTC Units 201 & 202 (CS30.1 & 30.2) required.
  • NPTC Unit 203 (CS31) for felling trees up to 380mm.
  • CPCS Red Card for Excavator operation.

Job description

JOB TITLE: Arboriculture Plant Operator

Location: Newark/National

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

What you’ll do:

The role of a Mech Arb Plant Operator involves working collaboratively with the team to deliver work efficiently and to a high standard. Daily tasks include operating and maintaining machinery, as well as yard and equipment maintenance. You will communicate regularly with team members and external contractors to ensure successful project completion, promote safety, and ensure compliance with all regulations and risk assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Site operations: Maintain tidiness and efficiency, ensuring high standards in work and vehicle maintenance.
  2. Machinery: Operate various machinery safely across different sites including highways, railway, utilities, and construction.
  3. Environmental considerations: Maintain awareness of environmental protection and pollution prevention.
  4. Teamwork: Support team development, foster positive workplace culture, and collaborate for efficient project execution.
  5. Health, Safety, and Compliance: Follow legislation such as LOLER, COSHH, wear PPE, report hazards and near misses.
  6. Problem solving: Prevent and resolve issues on site, suggest improvements.
  7. Communication: Keep team and managers updated on work progress.
  8. Safe working practices: Complete tasks following RAMS, risk assessments, legislation, and guidance from managers.
What we’re looking for:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • NPTC Units 201 & 202 (CS30.1 & 30.2): Chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting
  • NPTC Unit 203 (CS31): Felling and processing trees up to 380mm
  • FMO Crane fed chipper and base unit
  • CPCS Red Card for Excavator (below and above 10 tonnes, tracked and wheeled)
  • NPORS/CPCS Slinger signaller
  • NPORS Banksman/CPCS Banksman
  • First Aid + Forestry
  • Ability to work away from home for extended periods
  • UK Driver’s license

Desirable Skills:

  • PTS, Highways Passport, CPCS Tractor Operating
  • NPTC units 206, 306, 308, 307 for aerial tree work and rescue
  • Proven experience operating excavators for arboriculture
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, time management, teamwork, resilience, and adaptability.
