Executive Cost Consultant - Bristol
Construction Consultancy

I am representing a leading independent construction consultancy who are seeking an experienced Executive Cost Consultant to join their growing team in the South West. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-established practice known for delivering high-quality Cost Management and Project Management services across a diverse range of sectors.

The Role
This position offers exposure to a variety of high-profile projects, including commercial offices, large-scale residential developments, leisure and retail schemes, light industrial facilities, and a landmark film studio project. You will be part of a collaborative cost management team, reporting directly into senior leadership and playing a key role in both day-to-day project delivery and supporting the wider growth of the business.

The role will involve managing project finances, preparing accurate cost estimates, and overseeing cost planning through all RIBA stages. You will also handle post-contract cost management, procurement strategy, and risk mitigation, as well as provide clear and consistent financial reporting to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring effective cost control throughout all project phases
  • Produce detailed cost plans, estimates, and financial analysis to support design and procurement decisions
  • Prepare tender documentation, assess returns, and negotiate contracts
  • Manage post-contract change control, valuations, and final accounts
  • Provide strategic cost advice to clients and design teams to ensure best value
  • Identify risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential project challenges
  • Support junior team members and contribute to business development initiatives


About You:

  • Degree qualified, ideally in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • MRICS status is highly desirable; support towards achieving chartership can be provided
  • Previous consultancy experience with both pre- and post-contract exposure
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to build and maintain long-term relationships
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with CostX and Microsoft platforms beneficial
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to lead by example and mentor junior colleagues
