Executive operations and Secretariat Lead

Salary: £37,405 – £39,694

Contract: 24-month fixed term (with potential extension or secondment), hybrid working, multiple locations across the 32 NRO organisations.

FTE: 50%

This role offers an opportunity to be at the heart of national science policy, supporting strategic collaboration among research institutions and government, shaping the future of the UK’s research landscape.

The National Research Organisations (NRO) is a newly formed group representing the UK’s independent and government-affiliated research institutions, aiming to enhance research sustainability, accessibility, and policy influence.

The successful candidate will support collaboration among Directors, Chief Science Advisors, and civil servants, helping to achieve short-term aims such as raising awareness of non-university research, addressing landscape challenges, and supporting government missions like economic growth, clean energy, public safety, equality, and healthcare.

Key activities include organizing meetings, coordinating attendance, managing communications, developing website content, supporting strategy and policy, and preparing briefing documents.

Ideal candidates will be highly organized, proactive, and possess excellent interpersonal skills, with experience in Microsoft Office, Teams, and ideally Drupal. Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders is essential.
