Essex County Council are delighted to be supporting Basildon Council to recruit the role of Interim Executive Director – Strategy, People & Transformation.

*This is a temporary full-time opportunity for an initial six-month period. The role requires a presence at the Basildon Council office at least three days per week. Given the interim nature of this position, applicants are requested to include their salary expectations, along with their availability for interviews and start dates, when submitting an application.*

We are seeking an outstanding interim leader to step into the role of Executive Director of Strategy, People & Transformation. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape and drive forward our strategic ambitions, lead our transformation agenda, and ensure our workforce is future-ready—particularly in the context of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).

The role will provide transformational leadership and services Integration and Delivery across the Council’s key service areas, including:

You will bring a proven track record of success in organisational transformation, strategic leadership, and HR. Your ability to inspire, influence and deliver at pace will be critical in helping us
