Executive Director of People & Organisational Development - Velindre University NHS Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Director for People and OD to work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Trust Board.

We are seeking an exceptional leader who can operate across a broad portfolio and guide the organisation through a period of opportunity and transformation. This includes supporting the transition to our new Velindre Cancer Centre. Once complete, the new Centre will be a world-class facility delivering specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales.

Velindre University NHS Trust is one of 12 statutory health organisations in Wales. Our core purpose is to provide specialist blood and cancer health services to the people of Wales. We also host several national services, including NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, Health Technology Wales, and Advanced Therapies Wales.

As Executive Director of People and OD, you will be a senior workforce leader with extensive experience in change management, cultural leadership, and strategic workforce planning. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation and ensuring our people strategy aligns with our vision for excellence.

Main duties of the job

The Executive Director of People and OD will be responsible for workforce development, design and management, as well as for organisational development of the Trust. They are responsible for professional leadership and practice in relation to the Board's responsibilities as an employer for all staff.

As an Executive member of the Board, the Executive Director of People and OD will hold corporate responsibility jointly with other Board members for the strategic direction, corporate policy making and the development and delivery of Trust objectives.

The Executive Director will provide strategic OD and workforce advice to the Board and will also hold statutory accountability for all workforce matters as pertains to the hosted organisations of the Trust.

As Executive Director, you will work collaboratively as a key member of the Executive Team, bringing your professional expertise and strategic insight to support organisational decision-making. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the development of a positive people culture and contribute to delivering the organisation's People Strategy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
