Job summary

JPMorgan Chase’s Markets Legal team seeks an experienced Executive Director-level Commodities lawyer to provide senior legal coverage to the EMEA commodities business, guiding strategic, commercially driven advice across finance and physical markets.

You will counsel on complex legal and regulatory matters relating to derivatives, physical trading, and financing; shape the legal framework as the platform grows, and collaborate with global teams to ensure governance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 6+ years’ post-qualification experience in commodities or derivatives.
• Strong transactional background in commodities derivatives, physical trading, and/or structured financing.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills for a commercial context.
• Ability to translate regulatory developments into practical guidance for business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior, strategic legal support to JPMorganChase’s commodities business in EMEA, covering energy, metals, and related markets.
• Lead structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex derivatives, financing, and physical trading transactions.
• Advise on novel transaction structures balancing commercial objectives with evolving regulatory frameworks.
• Collaborate with Markets, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Operations and external counsel to deliver coordinated outcomes.
• Identify and manage legal, regulatory, and reputational risks affecting the Commodities business.
