Overview

Executive Director £105,000 p.a. plus benefits

The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) is a global membership organisation established in 1955 to promote the highest standards of professionalism within the wine trade and allied industries and sectors. In the last 10 years, it has transformed to increase its global presence, membership, students, and examination interest. Today, there are 418 MWs based in 29 countries, and the IMW actively seeks new candidates around the world.

The Executive Director must be an experienced professional who can demonstrate a successful track record of leadership, collaboration, and reputation management with these skills and experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence
  • Ability to engage with the many internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of working with people from different cultures and geographies
  • Motivational management style and the ability to work in an international context
  • Experience of developing strategies and management practices to achieve organisational objectives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Sound administrative financial management and IT skills; experience of managing a small staff team
  • Consultative, consensus-building approach and abilities
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative and drive
  • An interest in wine, although the role does not require experience in, or knowledge of wine
  • A commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion
