Job description

TITLE: Executive Assistant (Chief of Staff)

LOCATION(S): Leeds, Halifax or Bristol

Contract Type: Full-time / Hybrid, 40% (or two days per week) in one of our office hubs with travel to offsites when required.

Are you motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic environment, where ethical decision‑making and trust are paramount? Can you balance competing priorities while fostering strong relationships across People & Places and the wider Group?

Do you enjoy simplifying complexity and shaping strategies that uphold the highest standards of conduct? Are you ready to embrace innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and lead cultural transformation by challenging norms and inspiring positive change at every level?

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We are looking for an Executive Assistant to the Group Workplace Resolution & Investigations (WRI) Director to join our People & Places Centres of Excellence.

You will provide high impact and trusted support to the WRI Director by running an exceptional executive office, enabling decisive leadership across the team and acting as the Director's strategic right hand‑anticipating, prioritising, and derisking with the judgement and discretion expected in a regulated, complex Group environment.

WRI is unifying investigation and resolution approaches, strengthening governance, and driving proportionate, consistent outcomes across the Group. Your work will ensure the Director's time, attention and decisions land where they create the most value‑accelerating transformation, uplifting colleague experience, and improving conduct outcomes.

What you'll be doing
  • Executive Office Leadership: Orchestrate the Director's rhythm of the business, prepare briefings, manage stakeholder engagement and relationships across the Group.
  • Conduct & Risk Support: Act as knowledgeable triage for conduct & people risk topics, quality‑assure governance materials, maintain records.
  • Transformation Enablement: Support delivery of WRI transformation outcomes, track OKRs, highlight risks and drive communications.
  • People, Culture & Discretion: Role model values, handle confidential data, build trusted networks.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage calendar and design processes to streamline workflows.
  • Providing strategic challenge, insight and leadership to help shape decisions, lead the preparation of ExCo and often confidential materials ensuring high quality outputs, and keeping the Director advised on emerging issues.
  • Leading on analysis, preparation and coordination of strategic papers and documents for P&P Executive Committee meetings, ensuring papers have the required stakeholder input, are impactful and engaging, working across teams for timely inputs and contributions.
What we're looking for
Skills & Experience (Essential)
  • Executive office mastery in a large, regulated organisation. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to simplify the complex, including using AI tools to optimise outcomes. Comfortable representing the team at various forums.
  • Subject matter experience in conduct & risk (investigations, disciplinary, grievance, Speak Up).
  • Business rhythm & governance expertise.
  • Analytical writing & synthesis skills.
  • Stakeholder influence and credibility.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 and familiarity with case/risk systems.
  • Experience across the colleague/ HR journey, with a demonstrated interest in people strategy/workforce dynamics.
  • A keen attention to accuracy and the ability to apply insight and curiosity to shape decisions and outputs.
  • Experience working with emerging technologies such as AI to drive transformative change and apply this to own team.
  • Experience in employee relations, investigations, conduct risk, CCOR or GACI.
  • Awareness of SMCR context and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience curating exec‑level MI and dashboards.
Qualifications
  • No single qualification is mandatory; CIPD, ACAS or investigations training and relevant conduct/risk learning are advantageous.
What We Offer
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance‑related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
