As the Executive Assistant to the Corporate Institutional Banking Chief Operating Officer (CIB COO) you'll provide executive support at GEC-1 level, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and act as their ‘trusted advisor’. This role will support the delivery of a variety of activities for the CIB COO and wider leadership team, whilst building constructive and mutually beneficial relationships with key partners across the business at all levels.

The CIB COO is the ‘engine room’ of the Corporate and Institutional Bank, with over 1200 colleagues, and business areas ranging from operations, strategy, and technology. We're on a transformation journey working a pace to deliver our group purpose of Helping Britain Prosper, and as such plays a pivotal role to the success of the Corporate Institutional Bank.

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, motivated and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You'll demonstrate good judgement plus excellent relationship building, communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Your responsibilities will include:

Executive Support

  • Support the CIB COO in preparing, analysing, and reviewing a range of reports, papers and presentations, including those at Board level.

  • Co-ordinate delivery of CIB COO office projects ensuring alignment with Group and business strategy, using networks, and delivering as a team.

  • Business partner liaison and management; including building credible relationships across CIB COO and key contacts e.g. Finance, People Partner, Risk, GCA. Ensuring these relationships are positive and constantly improve our connectivity and reputation across the Group.

  • Manage high volume, high priority inbound queries and requests in an efficient and timely way.

Business Management

  • Leading the CIB COO Office, whilst building a close working relationship with Business Support Manager community.

  • Champion and find opportunities that will support / improve the wider objectives set for the business, driving continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with policies and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements, implementing and tracking actions to safeguard the business.

People & Culture

  • Facilitation of business communications, encompassing both routine correspondence and ad hoc messaging, as necessary.

  • Drive our colleague centric culture and people agenda, maintaining a view of colleague feedback, activity across workstreams and co-ordination of CIB COO People Forum.

  • Leading on the organisation, budgeting, and delivery of internal colleague events.

  • Champion our performance frameworks, ensuring line managers are equipped with knowledge and tools to support talent development and colleagues back to best.

What You'll Need

  • Previous experience of running a COO office within Financial Services.

  • Highly organised, effective planning and prioritisation skills.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to work at pace and manage conflicting priorities.

  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.

  • Great interpersonal and relationship building skills, coupled with the confidence and creativity to communicate to a range of audiences including senior executives.

  • Demonstrate initiative and independently complete assigned tasks.

  • Knowledge of the CIB Business is desired but not essential.
