We have an exciting opportunity for an Executive Assistant to join our Benefits Business Solutions team, as the Executive Assistant to our Chief Officer Benefits on a permanent basis based in our Darlington office (hybrid based).

Who we are

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. The role

The purpose of this role is to partner with the Chief Officer Benefits, providing full executive assistant support including expense management, diary management, tracking action items, document management and project support. This role will play an active part within the assistant community and will work collaboratively with the wider assistants across Railpen.

The person

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of providing executive support to an Excom member. You will have the ability to manage conflicting priorities whilst maintaining composure, be confident in using your creative diary management and influencing skills to ensure the most effective and productive use of time and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in everything you do. You will be an integral member of the team facilitating team cohesion, for example by organising team offsites and supporting the Senior Leadership Team meetings.

This is a fast-paced and challenging role and will require excellent organisational, relationship building and communication skills alongside self-awareness and the ability to always be one step ahead. Your focus will be to ensure the senior leaders are best supported to allow them to deliver on their priorities, while upholding and championing Railpen’s values and purpose.

The successful candidate will be confident, decisive, demonstrate a willingness to question and challenge. You will be organised, proactive and assertive while remaining calm and approachable. You will need to be able to quickly get to grips with the business area and able to use your emotional intelligence to get the best out of colleagues and stakeholders in any situation.

Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
