Job summary

A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to support a senior leadership function based in York. The role involves preparing briefing materials, coordinating planning activities, and managing projects across senior leadership teams. Candidates must have proven experience with senior stakeholders and excellent communication skills. This is a full-time onsite position with occasional travel to London. The contract is subject to BPSS clearance.

Executive Assistant

Contract: 6 months
Location: York (5 days onsite) with occasional travel to London
Rate: £250 per day (Umbrella)
IR35: Inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required
Interview: Microsoft Teams

An opportunity arisen for an experienced Executive Assistant to support a senior leadership function within a large, complex public-sector organisation. This is a highly visible role, suited to someone confident operating at director level and coordinating activity across multiple senior stakeholders.

You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of a high-performing regional leadership office, providing proactive executive support, coordination, and strategic organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare high-quality briefing materials, presentations, and papers for senior leadership and board-level meetings
  • Coordinate regional planning activities, including milestones, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Support and manage specific projects across senior leadership teams
  • Act as a central point of contact for business change, communications, and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead and coordinate meetings, events, conferences, and senior-level visits
  • Support business planning activities aligned to corporate objectives and review processes
  • Coordinate national and regional presentations, briefings, and internal engagement events
  • Promote best practice and collaboration across cross-functional teams
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience supporting senior leadership or executive-level stakeholders
  • Highly organised, proactive, and self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation preparation
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Confident working in fast-paced, complex organisational environments
