The National Audit Office in London is seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive support to two Directors in Corporate Services and the wider Strategy and Communications teams.
The role requires diary management, inbox handling, meeting coordination, event support, travel arrangements, and data/secretariat tasks across multiple teams, with excellent organisational, written and interpersonal skills.
Hours: Full time (36 hours) or Part-time (minimum 24 hours per week across 4 days)
Location: London office with a minimum of 2 days per week (40% for part time) in the office as per our hybrid working policy
Salary: c£37,500 pro rata per annum, plus civil service pension. A higher base salary may be available for exceptional applicants.
The National Audit Office (NAO) is the UK’s main public sector audit body. Independent of government, we have responsibility for auditing the accounts of various public sector bodies, examining the propriety of government spending, assessing risks to financial control and accountability, and reviewing the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of programmes, projects, and activities.
We report directly to Parliament, through the Committee of Public Accounts of the House of Commons which uses our reports as the basis of its own investigations. We employ some 1000 staff, most of whom are qualified accountants, trainees, or technicians. They work in one of two main areas, financial audit, or value for money (VFM) audit.

The Executive Assistant will provide comprehensive support to two of our Directors in Corporate Services, and the wider Strategy and Communications teams. The role of an Executive Assistant requires a combination of skills (listed below), as well as having the ability to manage multiple task and priorities.

An initial screening will be conducted to check the eligibility of candidates. Candidates who pass the shortlisting will be invited to the final interview.
The final interviews will assess various competencies and skills relevant to the role. The interviews will be face to face at our office in Victoria, London. Interview dates expected to be w/c 7 September and w/c 14 September 2026
The final decision-making process will take place once the final interviews have concluded.
Executive Assistant tasks:
