Job description

Porchester is an investment fund built on rigorous, AI-augmented fundamental research in event-driven and risk arbitrage strategies. We operate with almost no layers between decision-making and execution - every hire has real, visible leverage over outcomes.

The Role

We're hiring an experienced trader to run execution and trading operations, working closely with the founder across risk arbitrage and special situations.

Description of Role
  • Full trade execution across equities and equity options, primarily risk arbitrage and special situations - trading European and U.S. markets in real time, and Asian markets overnight, working closely with the CIO.
  • Trading options, risk arb spreads, and SPAC warrants/options as part of the broader book.
  • Working with the CIO on trade limits and trading plans for individual situations, and through corporate actions.
  • Identifying blocks and sourcing flow; extracting market colour and liquidity intelligence from the sell-side and proactively flagging execution risk.
  • Conduct rigorous Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) to evaluate broker performance, algorithm efficiency, and market impact.
  • Day-to-day OMS/EMS management, trade booking, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Working closely with Operations and the COO to ensure smooth settlement.
  • Working with the PMS provider to produce CIO attribution data - supporting performance studies and the data science team.
What We Need
  • Meaningful buy-side execution trading experience, ideally in event-driven or risk arbitrage strategies
  • Direct, hands-on OMS/EMS experience, preferably with Broadridge
  • A track record of clean execution
  • Genuine comfort operating with frequent, direct contact with the founder
  • Knowledge of global equities
  • Right to work in UK
  • Strong broker and counterparty relationships
  • Strong quantitative skills and sensitivity to numbers
Who Will Thrive Here
  • Diligent and detail-obsessed - someone who catches the problem before it's asked about
  • Low ego about not being the idea generator: research and signal generation happen elsewhere in the process; this seat is about flawless execution and giving the founder back time
  • Genuinely team-first
  • Comfortable receiving direct, specific feedback in service of getting the trade right and equally comfortable giving it back
Compensation & Culture

Base salary plus a discretionary bonus tied transparently to fund performance.

Our Process
  • Initial conversation
  • Reference conversations focused on how you operate as part of a team
  • A direct conversation with candid, two-way feedback before any offer is made
  • A three-month probationary period from start date, with structured check-ins at 30, 60, and 90 days covering execution accuracy, quality of sell-side colour, settlement flow, and responsiveness to direct feedback
