We are looking for an enthusiastic Solicitor, Barrister with practising certificate or CILEX Fellow with the ability to provide expert legal support to client departments by telephone or at meetings, often without prior knowledge of the facts. You will need to demonstrate professionalism as well as excellent communication and drafting skills together with a flexible and positive approach and an ability to work under pressure. You will be working in a super friendly team with colleagues and managers who are very supportive.


You will manage a diverse caseload of contract work which could include:



  • Drafting contracts and reviewing tender documents

  • Procurement advice for projects from start to finish for services, supplies and works

  • Advising on commercial law in general in local government including subsidy control

  • Advising on and drafting funding and partnership agreements

  • Advising the Council on its family of companies, charities and work relating to its outside bodies


Some prior knowledge and experience of corporate governance would be an advantage. You may also be asked to undertake some commercial property transactions from time to time.
