Job description

A well-established, locally owned veterinary practice is seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse to join their diverse and friendly team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated RVN who values team culture, clinical excellence, and professional growth.

Holding prestigious certifications, including ISFM Silver Cat-Friendly Clinic and RAW Silver Rabbit Friendly status, the practice also serves as an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice. Equipped with modern facilities, it offers all the tools and resources expected of a thriving small animal GP practice.

The Role:

  • This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Head Veterinary Nurse looking to grow within a forward-thinking, well-equipped practice that values teamwork, professional development, and work-life balance.
  • Reporting to an experienced Practice Manager, the Head Veterinary Nurse will play a key leadership role, ensuring the smooth operation of the practice while directly managing a team of 3 RVNs, 1 student nurse, and 2 VCAs.
  • The ideal candidate will be an inspiring and composed leader with strong communication and organisational skills, capable of motivating the team, maximizing efficiencies, and driving a culture of continuous quality improvement and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and supporting the veterinary nursing team.
  • Working closely with vets to optimize clinical operations.
  • Ensuring high standards of patient care and client service.
  • Encouraging professional development within the nursing team.

Hours:

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week) – flexible to negotiate a minimum of 35 hours.
  • NO out-of-hours, no on-call, and no backup rota – ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
