Job summary

Merton College is recruiting bank of variable hours Examination Invigilators to manage GCSE examinations on multiple dates in 2026/2027. You will coordinate venues, collect materials, and control candidate entry while safeguarding belongings and following awarding body rules.

Ideal candidates will have prior experience in examination administration, be reliable and punctual, and able to work under pressure in a busy setting with up to 400 candidates. Closing date: 8 October 2026.

Job description

Merton College is seeking a bank of variable hours Examination Invigilators to manage the Group's external examinations, November, January, May and June, but specifically the dates below for the GCSE Exams:

• Thursday, 5th November 2026
• Friday, 6th November 2026
• Monday, 9th November 2026
• Friday, 14 May 2027
• Monday, 24 May 2027
• Thursday, 27 May 2027
• Tuesday, 8 June 2027
• Monday, 14 June 2027

Ensuring the examination venues are arranged in accordance with awarding body regulations, you'll collect exam materials from the exams office punctually, prior to the start of examinations and manage the entry of candidates into exam venues ensuring their belongings and unauthorised items are appropriately stored. You'll open and distribute question papers, complete the attendance register whilst identifying students, complete Examinations' Diary as appropriate and maintain vigilance during the length of the whole examination.

With previous experience in examination administration, you'll be reliable and punctual with the ability to control an examination venue containing up to 400 candidates. With excellent communication skills, you'll be a meticulous and detail orientated individual, able to work under pressure and be a team player.
