Job summary

St John the Baptist School in Woking invites applications for Exam Invigilators to support our exams team. Roles are flexible, with sessions from 8:30am–3:30pm across December to July, and training provided to cover reader/scribe duties if needed.

Invigilators are paid per invigilation hour, with a typical schedule requiring availability for multiple sessions each week during exam periods. This is a casual contract with on-site duties at St John the Baptist School.

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level in English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during internal and external exams.

Exams run from December to April with the main external exam season running from May to July. Morning sessions begin at 8.30am, generally finishing around 11.30am. Afternoon sessions start at 12.30pm, usually finishing by 3.30pm. Exact dates will be confirmed in advance, with the possibility of additional sessions being offered later as unexpected situations arise.Although most of our students will sit exams in our dedicated exams hall, our Exams Invigilators may also need to give additional support to those students sitting exams individually by becoming a reader and/or scribe. You should be reliable, punctual and empathic towards our students. Be able to follow instructions, have clear spoken English and be able to stand/walk about for up to 3 hours. Often unexpected situations arise during exams so a flexible approach, thinking about what needs doing and being able to switch priorities is also an important aspect of the role. **A committed approach to your allocated dates is vital.**You should be willing to undergo the necessary training to also become a reader and/or scribe on a one to one basis. This training will make the role more varied as well as increase the number of hours we are able to offer you over each season.
