Job description

Location: Swindon - North Star Campus and Queens Drive Campus

Salary: £12.54 per hourAs an Exam Invigilator, you will help ensure exams run like clockwork. You’ll be the calm in the storm, the rule-keeper, the time-watcher, and the silent cheerleader for students doing their best.

What you will do as an Exam Invigilator

  • Setting the scene: Preparing exam rooms, distributing papers, and welcoming students with quiet confidence.
  • Keeping it fair: Ensuring exam regulations are followed to the letter - no phones, no talking, no funny business.
  • Staying alert: Watching for signs of malpractice, confusion, or distress - and knowing exactly what to do if something goes awry.
  • Supporting students: Guiding them through the process, answering procedural questions, and helping them stay calm and focused.
  • Working as a team: Collaborating with the Exams Manager and fellow invigilators to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Being flexible: Available during key exam periods (November, January, May, June, and July) and willing to work across both campuses.

Experience/Qualifications Of An Exam Invigilator

  • A sharp eye for detail and a steady hand under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A sense of fairness, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Confidence in following procedures and handling unexpected situations.
  • Basic IT skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Experience in education or administration is a bonus - but not essential.
