Job summary

Coombeshead Academy is seeking flexible exam invigilators to support busy periods. You will ensure examinations run smoothly, supervise candidates, and maintain strict security of papers and materials.

Training is provided, and roles are suitable for individuals who can work independently or as part of a team. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, a calm, professional demeanor, and a commitment to safeguarding children.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with young people in an educational setting preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks and training.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to JCQ Instructions for examinations at all times.
• Ensure exam rooms are set up according to requirements.
• Record and report any incidents or irregularities.
• Supervise candidates and maintain orderly conduct in the examination room.
• Collect exam scripts and secure materials after exams.
• Complete attendance registers and verify candidate identities.

Job description

• Adhere to the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) Instructions for conducting examinations - ICE Book at all times.
• Keep confidential exam question papers and materials secure before, during and after exams
• Ensure exam rooms are set up according to the requirements
• Admit candidates into exam rooms under formal examination conditions
• Give full attention to conducting the examinations properly
• Identify candidates and seat candidates according to the required arrangements
• Distribute the correct question papers and exam materials to candidates
• Instruct candidates in the conduct of their exams
• Deal with candidate questions
• Start exams
• Supervise and observe candidates at all times and be vigilant throughout
• Keep disruption in examination rooms to a minimum
• Deal with emergencies or irregularities effectively
• Record/report any incidents, disruption or irregularities
• Complete attendance registers
• Deal with candidate questions according to the regulations
• Instruct candidates in finishing their examinations and collect examination scripts and materials
• Dismiss candidates from the examination room
• Check candidates' names on scripts, match the details on the attendance register
• Securely return all examination scripts, question papers and materials to the exams officer
• Undertake annual training as required
  We are looking to recruit flexible, dedicated and enthusiastic invigilators to join our team during busy exam periods.

The busy exam periods are during October/November, January/February and April-June. Working hours are variable depending on the school's requirements but dates and hours are negotiable. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people in an educational setting, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team. IT competency would also be an advantage. However previous experience is not essential as training will be provided.
