Job summary

Riverside School in Barking Riverside invites applications for an Exam Invigilator to support its secondary school examinations. The school serves the local Thames-side community in new facilities and values safeguarding and high standards.

As an invigilator, you will assist with room preparation, monitor candidates, and ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and school policies. An Enhanced DBS check, references, medical clearance and digital screening are required to begin delivery of duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms following JCQ guidelines.
  • Ensure correct stationery and materials are available at start/end of exams.
  • Ensure candidates do not talk inside the examination room.
  • Conduct exams in accordance with school and JCQ regulations.
  • Remain vigilant and supervise candidates before, during and between exams.
  • Ensure security of examination papers, materials and scripts and collect them timely.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Assist students with special requirements (e.g., Read and Scribe).

Job description

Required Exam Invigilators to join an exciting Secondary School that opened in 2012. Riverside School serves the growing Barking Riverside community on the banks of the Thames in superb newly-built accommodation and is already fully-subscribed.

Purpose of the job
  • To provide support to the examinations process while adhering to JCQ Regulations.
  • To support the Examinations Officer with the day-to-day running of the examinations season.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To prepare the examinations room for the candidates following JCQ guidelines.
  • To ensure that the correct stationary and material are available at the start of the examination and returned at the end of the examination.
  • Ensuring candidates do not talk once inside the examinations room.
  • To ensure that examinations are conducted in accordance to school and JCQ regulations.
  • To remain vigilant throughout the examinations.
  • To escort and supervise candidates as required before, during and between examinations. Eg. Toilet
  • To ensure the security of the examination papers, materials and scripts and to facilitate the accurate and timely collection of all exam materials.
  • To adhere to JCQ regulated confidentiality and Data Protection requirements.
  • Assist students with special requirements eg, Read and Scribe
Person Specification
  • Fluent speaking and writing skills, excellent time management, work appropriate appearance, acts in a professional manner at all times.

The above duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder will be required to carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required by the Headteacher within the grading level of the post and the competence of the post holder.

The school is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and as such all appointments will be required to hold an Enhanced DBS check that is registered with the Update Service. Appointments are also subject to two satisfactory references, medical clearance and digital screening.
