The Role

We’re currently recruiting an Events Safeguarding Coordinator to ensure that safeguarding is part of the planning, implementation and review of event delivery. We are looking for a pro-active and innovate professional who can work collaboratively across departments to implement and embed initiatives that reduce risks and prevent harm.

The postholder is responsible for ensuring safeguarding risks are considered within the planning and delivery of all Events - be it at our major events (e.g., matchday, game day, concerts), our visitor attractions, including F1 Drive, and across our conferences and events at the stadium.

Working collaboratively is essential to the role, to ensure that safeguarding is integrated into all aspects of event delivery. This role includes event planning; overseeing a team of casual safeguarding staff; training and awareness raising to ensure that every event delivered at the Stadium is delivered with a preventative safeguarding approach at its centre.

Pre-Event

  • Support the planning of events by considering safeguarding protocols, inclusive practices and participant welfare measures.
  • Own and oversee the policies and processes required for safeguarding at events, including lost, missing and separated, ejections process, searching of minors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Stadium Operations Team and partner organisations to assess and determine coordinated responses to threats and risks.
  • Conduct pre-event risk assessments, identify safeguarding risks and implement appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Implement proactive and preventative measures that support attendee satisfaction and reduce the risk of harm.
  • Work closely with the Safeguarding Team to ensure all events meet internal, regulatory and legal safeguarding requirements.
  • Build a team of specialist Safeguarding Officers ensuring they have the skills and experience to provide operational safeguarding support at Football matches and other Events based at the stadium.
  • Provide ongoing training and awareness raising activities (including in-person sessions, webinars, newsletters, etc) to maintain ongoing support and engagement to the Safeguarding and Welfare Officers.
  • Coordinate the deployments of appropriate resources for each event, ensuring adequate resourcing based on risk and intelligence.
  • Design pre-event communications to pro-actively raise awareness of guidance on staying safe and support available for people attending the stadium, ensure that messaging aligns with the organisation’s values, safeguarding principles, and branding.

Event Day

  • Deliver staff briefings, provide event-specific updates to Senior Stewards and Event Managers enabling them to cascade information to their teams.
  • Brief the Safeguarding Team on the event specific risks, including any third-party activations, under 18 workers, Flagbearers and Mascots.

Post Event

  • Review all concerns submitted during the events, identify any ongoing risks, actions and themes.
  • Attend and participate in any event debriefs, consider learning from the event and future improvements.
  • Respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns that require ongoing support.
  • Make any necessary referrals to statutory services or other bodies based on Premier League and FA reporting requirements.

What you will bring

  • Experience of working in a safeguarding role in a busy, operational environment.
  • Experience of delivering large scale events, working collaboratively to identify risks, undertake risk assessments and write detailed event safeguarding plans.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning, organising, resourcing and administering safeguarding support at events, showcasing excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of writing, implementing and reviewing policies, procedures and guidance documents across a largely casual workforce.
  • Experience of working independently to deliver innovative programmes of work designed to mitigate risk and harm.
  • The ability to exercise the highest standards of confidentiality and to work sensitively with those affected by issues of safeguarding.
  • Ability to dynamically risk assess complex situations, make decisions and advise appropriately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills in a professional setting. Ability to tailor communications to a variety of audiences from partner organisations, to customers, to casual workforce.
  • Practical experience of planning and delivering workshops, training events, network events and supporting knowledge sharing with a range of stakeholders.
  • Examples of self-motivation, self-management, solutions-focus and the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience of leading, managing and supporting casual staff teams.
  • Understanding of safeguarding operations in sport-based event delivery.
  • Knowledge of the FA Safeguarding reporting standards.
