Do you want to be part of the effort to build permanent, decent homes for the 3,000 children and families experiencing homelessness in Brighton and Hove? That’s what Mission: HOME is working towards.
I’m Scarlett Chapman, 14, and I started this initiative because it breaks my heart to see families in cramped, inadequate temporary accommodation—sometimes for up to 15 years. I’ve been busking locally since I was 8, raising over £10,000 for homelessness charities and raising awareness through press, TV, and radio coverage.
We are asking Brighton and Hove City Council to utilize small, unused patches of land—microsites—to build council homes.
You can play a significant role! Join our close-knit team of volunteers to help persuade the Council to free up land for homes, giving families a chance at a better life.
Check out my YouTube video (https://youtu.be/jXhxc-8D9TY) and read on to see how you can contribute!
“I’ve met families living in these conditions, and one mother, ‘Julie,’ told me they were given a place so bad they had to hoover mold off the walls. Her daughter kept getting lung infections—that shook me. That’s why we’re doing this.” – Scarlett
