The department of the Vice President External Engagement coordinates UCL’s engagement with a range of audiences, raising the university’s profile and influence, and managing its reputation. It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.

The Events team delivers a range of events for UCL staff, students, external stakeholders and the general public, in support of UCL’s strategic priorities. This includes graduation ceremonies for over 10,000 students, open days, high-profile VIP events for our influential stakeholders, this public lectures, festivals, and award ceremonies.

About The Role

The role will proactively lead on the organisation and delivery of UCL’s University Open Days and Open Evenings The role will proactively lead on the organisation and delivery of UCL’s central Open Days.

The role is also responsible for making sure the Open Days are on brand, on time and ensuring an ongoing process of improvement through measurement and analytics and will contribute to an integrated team who interface across UCL proactively and productively.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role. We will consider applications to work on a flexible basis wherever possible.

The role is available to start from 1 August 2025.

About You

Proven experience of organising large scale, high profile events at a higher education institution, experience of producing written briefings and timetables for event stewards, other staff participating in events and experience of delivering events that are accessible and inclusive for audiences with additional needs are essential.

Knowledge and experience of events marketing including use of social media and being confident in updating websites and writing copy and

experience in working with student ambassadors and a willingness to improve effectiveness of the scheme would be desirable.
