    The Role

    We are looking for a proactive and organised Events Executive to bring our community calendar to life. Working closely with our Rabbinic Team, office staff, and volunteer committees, you will coordinate and manage a wide range of regular and ad-hoc events and activities. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on our vibrant and diverse community by delivering high quality events and programmes.

    Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, including some evenings and Sundays

    Key Responsibilities

    • Diary Management: Maintain the synagogue’s programming and events calendar, ensuring smooth scheduling of all regular and ad hoc activities.
    • Event Planning: Oversee all logistics for community events and programmes, including (but not limited to) sourcing and booking suppliers, ensuring food and materials are ordered and delivered, and managing technical requirements.
    • Event Management: Supervise in-person the event set-up and execution for most ad-hoc events throughout the year, to include large-scale community events such as Chanukah and Purim. Where in-person management is not required full briefing documents must be prepared.
    • Budget Management: Ensure events are delivered within budget, to include negotiating with suppliers, seeking sponsorship where appropriate, and applying for grants from the Centre for Community Excellence.
    • Working with Rabbinic Team: Work collaboratively with the Rabbinic Team to develop ideas from concept stage to delivery.
    • Supporting the Youth Director: Work with the Youth Director to help deliver well-managed youth-focused events and activities.
    • Working with Volunteer Teams: Collaborate with volunteer-led teams to support and help deliver their event ideas including, for example, the Bushey Social Team and the Bushey Families committee.
    • Caretaking Liaison: Work closely with our caretakers on event preparation, set-up and clear-up, including a regular weekly briefing.
    • Design flyers and Booking links: Design promotional materials using Canva and manage event bookings via the K2 system (training provided).
    • Event promotion: Encourage attendance at events through communications on social media (Facebook and Instagram), WhatsApp, E-mail and weekly newsletters.In addition to publicise to external Jewish and local media post-event where relevant.

    Person Specification

    • Proven experience planning and delivering successful events
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience managing event budgets
    • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web-based systems
    • Ability to design flyers using Canva
    • Confident using social media platforms and writing engaging copy for emails
    • Hands-on technical skills for event set up (e.g. microphones, screens, audio-visual)
    • Some knowledge of Jewish customs, practices, and the Jewish community calendar
