About the role

Are you a highly organised and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic event environment? The National Space Centre currently seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Events Crew Bar Team Leader. In this role, you will be responsible supporting and leading the bar team from set-up, bar operations, service and close-down.

Applicants should have proven 1 years minimum experience within a team leader role and a minimum of 2 years experience of bar work. You should have excellent communication skills and a flexible, adaptable and willing attitude towards work. Smart personal appearance and a passion for delivering high quality events are essential.

The role is casual. Working hours vary but generally could start from 3pm/5pm until the end of the event (potentially expected early hours of the morning) – the exact start and finish times will vary by event. There will be a requirement to work weekends during December due to Christmas Parties.

Rate of pay is £14.26 per hour.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be 18 years of age or above to be able to serve alcohol.

Job Description

Purpose: To deliver a first class customer experience to all corporate guests with the support of the corporate events team and wider space centre team.

Reporting to: The Venue Hire Team

Liaising with: Head Chef, Kitchen Staff, Operations Team, Security Team, Technical Team and Housekeeping

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support & lead bar team from set-up, bar operations, service and close-down.
  • Meet and greet all corporate guests upon arrival
  • Provide a high standard of customer service in delivering everything from arrival drinks, bar set-up & pre-ordered drinks
  • Train staff members with a high standard of efficient bar service at all times
  • Understand basic allergy information and where detailed product information can be found
  • Efficient delivery of food and beverage to tables & from bar
  • Manage bar services, especially at busy times.
  • To support the operational team with controlling stock levels
  • To operate tills with effective cash handling.
  • Responsible for delivering quality service and up selling the National Space Centre where appropriate
  • Dealing with general enquiries and customer service issues.
  • Assist efficiently with event preparation and clear down correctly as per the event requirements and event team’s instructions.
  • Ability to deal with last-minute changes in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ensure that all health and safetyprocedures, including fire & evacuation and manual handling, are adhered to.
  • Maintain effective safe food hygiene practices as per food hygiene training.
  • To work as part of the operational team.
  • Undertake in-house and external training as necessary.

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and an understanding of the needs of the customers by building a rapport.

  • Ability to comply with manual handling safety procedures.
