Job description
Overview

Grade 5: £32,108 - £37,338 per annum. The Faculty of Law is seeking a highly motivated and well-organised Events Assistant to support the delivery of a wide range of internal and external events, including high-profile academic conferences, student-focused activities, and flagship programmes. They will work closely with the Events Manager and will play a key role in enhancing the Faculty’s research culture and ensuring the smooth delivery of events across the academic year.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will assist in the planning, coordinating and delivering a wide portfolio of events, including the annual Faculty lectures, special lectures, conferences, symposiums, dinners and research group events.
  • Support budget preparation, procurement, and financial administration in line with University procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate records using an Excel workbook.
  • Provide event and administrative support for the Public International Law Research Group and Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre’s Annual International Intellectual Property Law Moot.
  • Use various software systems including Padlet, Drupal, Stripo and Oracle.
Qualifications and skills
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage and prioritise different administrative tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines; ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to communicate confidently and effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Willingness and availability to work flexibly, including outside normal office hours, and to travel to events outside Oxford if required.
  • A solid understanding of budget management and financial planning.
  • Desirable: experience of, or an interest in, working in the field of higher education.
Contract and work arrangements
  • This role is fixed term for 2 years and full time; the postholder will be based at St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford.
  • The Law Faculty supports hybrid working; the postholder will be required to be on site for at least 60% of their working week and be willing to work flexibly, as occasional work outside normal office hours will be required.
