The Role: Events Producer

Who We're Looking For

We're seeking a proactive and meticulous professional who thrives in a fast-paced, intellectually curious environment. You'll be a self-starter, comfortable working independently (including from home), eager to learn, and ready to contribute to new and emerging projects that take you outside your comfort zone.

You'll Bring

  • Proven Experience: With professional experience in events, project management, media, content creation, or a related role within the arts and creative industries.
  • Exceptional Organisation: Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence and charisma to engage and host large audiences.
  • Intellectual Curiosity: A keen eye for exciting editorial content and a passionate interest in contemporary ideas across history, politics, art, culture, psychology, medicine, and the natural sciences. You'll also appreciate the importance of maintaining political impartiality in our public programmes.
  • Adaptability: The nature of live events means regular evening and weekend work will be part of the role – you'll thrive in this progressive and rewarding environment.

Ideally, You'll Also Have

  • Experience with introductory video and audio editing software

This role reports to the Head of Production.

Main Duties

As our Events Producer, you will:

  • Lead Event Production: Manage the end-to-end production of our diverse portfolio of live and livestream talks and 'In Conversation' events, coordinating seamlessly with venues, guest speakers, tech partners, and internal departments to deliver over fifty shows annually.
  • Ensure Flawless Execution: Provide comprehensive backstage briefing and liaison for our esteemed speakers and interviewers, ensuring their events run flawlessly.
  • Be Our Public Face: Serve as the welcoming and engaging public face of How To Academy for solo performer events, expertly introducing speakers and facilitating progressive audience Q&A sessions.
  • Manage Front-of-House: Oversee the recruitment, training, and management of our dedicated team of freelance front-of-house staff.
  • Handle Financial Settlements: Manage financial settlements from our regional and international author tours, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop Our Digital Presence: Contribute to the strategic development of our YouTube channel and collaborate on bespoke editorial projects beyond traditional book launches.
  • Special Projects: Take on a variety of other special projects across the business as required, demonstrating your versatility and adaptability.

Location

The How To Academy office is based in Farringdon, London, and you will also work on-site producing events at venues across London. Home working is permitted when you do not need to be on-site for an Event.
