Job Description

Location: Head Office based in Hertford

Reports to: Head of Operations

Role Overview

As the Event Health and Safety Officer, a new role within the business, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all participants, staff, contractors, and visitors during the planning, setup, operation, and breakdown of events. This is a hands-on, on-site role, requiring your presence at events to monitor safety, respond to incidents, and support operational teams directly. You will work on a wide range of events across the UK, collaborating closely with the Head of Operations and other stakeholders to implement and monitor safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Health & Safety operations on-site across several large-scale event locations
  • Conduct site inspections
  • Ensure compliance with international and local safety regulations
  • Liaise with event and site management, contractors, and local authorities to maintain consistent safety standards
  • Investigate incidents and coordinate follow-up actions and reporting
  • Respond promptly to incidents and provide guidance on safe working practices
  • Engage with key stakeholders to promote a positive health and safety culture, from employees to senior management
  • Manage documentation related to health and safety
  • Lead contractor management and ensure CDM requirements are met
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Proven experience in event health and safety management, particularly in outdoor consumer events, with a strong understanding of event-specific risks and safety requirements
  • Knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015)
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with diplomacy and clarity
  • Skill in translating complex safety regulations into clear guidance
  • Experience with H&S management systems
  • Practical, hands-on approach to health and safety
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions
