A leading company is seeking an Event Driven Research Analyst in London, focusing on evaluating and monitoring special situations for a global hedge fund clientele. The role demands strong analytical skills, investment banking experience, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients at the highest levels.

Position: Event Driven Research Analyst (US product)
Location: London
Role Responsibilities:
Evaluating and monitoring hard and soft catalyst event driven special situations with particular focus on North American merger arbitrage for a global hedge fund client base
Compile continuous updates on event driven announcements and press comments
Work with sales/sales traders on actionable, idea driven, sales calls
Communicate analysis and ideas with clients up to CIO level
Source and undertake calls with deal related management, advisors, journalists, sector experts etc
Provide real-time analysis and opinions on breaking news
Traveling to company events and conferences as required
Undertake equity valuation analysis
Work with their Long/Short and Index Events teams and clients
Any ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
2-3 years of event driven experience
Intellectual curiosity and commercial, idea driven focus
Self motivated and able to work in a fast moving, entrepreneurial environment
Able to work collaboratively as well as independently
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to work additional and flexible hours when necessary
Confidence in communicating up to Board and C-suite level with companies being researched Requirements and Preferences
Investment banking experience, two years post training
Event driven, M&A or private equity related experience preferred, but not essential
Knowledge and experience of US equity market and macro-economic fundamentals
Advanced excel knowledge, preferable
Working knowledge of Bloomberg
