Job summary

Chester Race Company is seeking an experienced Event Day Kitchen Porter to support our Horseradish Catering team at venues across the region. You’ll help keep kitchens running smoothly during busy event days, handling dishwashing, basic prep, and cleaning in a fast-paced environment.

This casual, zero-hours role offers flexible shifts, weekly pay, and the chance to work at prestigious events and venues with a friendly team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or catering environment desirable.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced events setting.
• Reliability and strong teamwork in busy service periods.

Responsibilities

• Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen during events and service periods.
• Wash dishes, cookware and utensils using commercial equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchens and back-of-house areas.
• Assist with basic food preparation for lunch and dinner services.
• Work as part of the wider catering team to support efficient service delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable
• A positive, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong awareness of cleanliness, hygiene, and safe working practices
• Reliable, hardworking, and a strong team player

Pay Rates (inclusive of holiday pay)

• £9.85 per hour (ages 16-17)
• £14.60 per hour (ages 18+)
