Job description

Vacancy: Blood Donation Event Staff

This vacancy is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Please do not apply unless you have another means of establishing a right to work.

Come and join our Events team, involved in recruiting new blood donors at various events including shopping centres and workplaces. The role requires working on an as-needed basis, with variable hours including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with mutual agreement and prior notice.

You do not need a medical background; experience in customer service, including voluntary roles, is sufficient. You will set up and run “What’s Your Blood Type?” events, performing blood typing testing with training provided.

Location and Travel: It’s preferable to live within about 15 miles of event locations, as travel may be required at short notice. Some weekend work is involved, with extra pay and travel cost coverage.

Main Duties
  1. Collaborate with the marketing team to register and book appointments for new blood donors.
  2. Set up and run Know Your Type (KYT) events, performing blood type testing.
  3. Perform blood sampling (finger prick test) following procedures, with full training provided.
  4. Provide information on donation and provisional blood types to the public.
  5. Report event data to monitor effectiveness.
  6. Pack up equipment and manage disposal of sharps and waste.
  7. Receive training in basic care/first aid for adverse reactions.
  8. Handle equipment loading, unloading, and setup, including heavy objects up to 13 kg.
Candidate Profile
Experience and Knowledge
  • Customer service experience (including voluntary work) is essential.
Qualifications and Training
  • Educated to GCSE, NVQ Level 2, or equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Comfortable performing clinical blood typing tests with training provided.
