JOB TITLE: Staffing Manager/Lead

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: £28k – 32k (Depending on experience) plus up to 10% annual performance bonus

HOLIDAY: 25 days holiday + bank holidays

BASED: Manchester, Trafford Park M32 0ZH

WORKING HOURS: 40 hrs per week - flexible schedule including weekend and evening events, office days & WFH

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Staffing Manager to join our rapidly growing events team. You will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, coordination, and management of all event day staff and volunteers, ensuring our events run smoothly, and leading the staffing team.

Job Description

As Event Staffing Manager, you will work directly with our event management team to deliver running events across the UK while leading recruitment and communication with event day staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Event Staffing Management:
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a small team of staffing executives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and support.
  • Oversee recruitment for volunteers and paid staff, achieving targets.
  • Develop strategies to attract and retain quality staff and volunteers.
  • Act as a key contact between staffing and event operations teams, ensuring clear communication.
  • Manage staffing logistics for events, ensuring all roles are filled and duties are performed as required.
  • Collaborate with the event team to plan and execute events.
  • Support setup, management, and dismantling of event sites, maintaining high standards.
  • Assist with event delivery as Event Village team member/lead on event days.
  • Participate in post-event debriefs.
  • Engage with the wider running community to enhance reputation and engagement.
  • Build relationships with runners attending our events.

Personal Specification:

  • Ability to motivate others and foster strong team dynamics.
  • Genuine interest in live events, running/sport, and quick learning.
  • Comfort in speaking with people from diverse backgrounds, building relationships, and helping grow the marshal and volunteer community.
  • Experience managing a team with strong leadership skills.
  • Experience working with volunteers or large groups.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis for tracking volunteer targets & KPIs.
  • Able to meet strict deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform manual tasks.
  • Desire for personal development and career progression.
  • Passion for delivering flawless, customer-centric events.
  • Willing to work weekends (start: 5-6am | finish: 12pm-2pm) on a rota (approx. 2 weekends/month).
  • Full UK manual driving license and willingness to drive a van.
  • Experience in live events.
  • Keen interest and knowledge of running and sport.
  • Previous van driving experience.
  • Personable and confident in social situations.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
