About The Role

As an Evening Kitchen Assistant Cook, you’ll prepare and serve simple, comforting meals for staff working the evening shift (4 PM – 10 PM, Monday to Friday). You’ll follow established menus, ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene, and help keep the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently. This role is ideal for someone dependable, practical, and experienced in commercial kitchens or catering environments.

Getting Started

  • Get to know the kitchen layout, evening service routine, and menu plan
  • Learn our health, safety, and hygiene procedures
  • Understand ingredient storage, stock control, and ordering support
  • Coordinate with the Facilities team for a seamless kitchen handover

Establishing Your Impact

  • Cook and serve meals according to daily menus and staff needs
  • Maintain excellent cleanliness and hygiene throughout the shift
  • Store and prepare food safely and in line with regulations
  • Track supplies and notify the team when stock needs replenishing
  • Ensure smooth, timely service during busy evening hours

Driving Excellence

  • Deliver consistent, quality meals that help fuel our team
  • Reduce waste and optimise ingredient use where possible
  • Suggest improvements to food prep or kitchen routines
  • Help keep the kitchen a calm, clean, and welcoming space
  • Collaborate with the wider team to support a positive meal experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Cook meals based on prepared menus and dietary needs
  • Clean and maintain kitchen areas to high standards
  • Assist with stock management and basic ordering
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment and follow food safety rules
  • Minimise food waste and maintain efficient meal prep
  • Support dietary requirements when required
  • Help ensure a friendly and smooth meal service for staff

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

  • 3+ years’ experience as a cook or kitchen assistant in a professional setting
  • Food hygiene certificate and strong understanding of kitchen safety
  • Ability to manage time well and work independently
  • Reliable, positive attitude with good communication skills
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and safety best practices
  • Culinary training is not essential but helpful

Working Pattern

  • Shift Two, this is our later shift in the day. The working hours are 4pm to 10pm.
  • Working days are Monday to Friday.
  • 30 Hours per week.
