About the role

To work as a key part of the Strategy, Policy and Public Affairs team, responsible for developing, articulating, and monitoring metrics to support UCAS’s corporate strategy to put students at the heart of all activity. This role will work closely with the UCAS Board, Council, Executive, and the Senior Management Group (SMG) to bring those strategies to life, through visible and transparent objectives and results, tracking progress against them, and ensuring that the business is aligned on what it is trying to achieve.


This role also plays a key part in ensuring the achievement of UCAS Strategic Objective ‘Be an employer of choice where people belong, flourish, perform, and achieve’ as well as positioning UCAS externally as a sustainable and socially responsible charity.


Success in this role will be a live UCAS strategy with real time metrics that shape UCAS’ strategic decisions, with
EDI embedded into all internal processes, frameworks and metrics

Skills, qualifications, and experience
  • Knowledge of equalities legislation with the ability to apply it practically within a business context.
  • Good working knowledge of project management approaches and methodology, as well as experience of
    delivering organisational sustainability, cultural and people change.
  • Experience of equality related event organisation and management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence and persuade people at all
    levels within and external to the business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and present clear and convincing
    findings.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a complex portfolio of projects simultaneously; ability
    to balance competing demands and manage expectations, bearing in mind the needs of colleagues and strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrate initiative, confidence, and personal responsibility for action.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to represent a complex area, broader than a direct management
    role through a matrix management approach.
  • Sensitivity to issues of diversity and cultural difference and a commitment to equality of opportunity.
  • Ability to confidently collaborate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, including UCAS
    Board, Council, and Executive members.
  • Ability to compile and confidently present high-quality corporate materials.
  • Demonstrable project management skills
