Job summary

Ipsum Group’s Parco division seeks an experienced Estimator to price EV charging infrastructure and related civils works. You will liaise with clients, suppliers and project teams to develop viable tenders ensuring alignment with project specs and timelines.

Role focuses on electrical and civils estimates, including excavation, cabling, foundations, and reinstatement, with opportunities for value engineering and tender handover to delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating within EV charging, electrical, civils, construction, utilities, or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering and construction methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction details.
• Experience carrying out detailed quantity take-offs and cost build-ups.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with commercial awareness and understanding of project costs and margins.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for EV charging infrastructure and associated civils works.
• Estimate excavation, trenching, ducting, cabling routes, foundations, reinstatement, drainage, kerbing, surfacing, and other civil works.
• Estimate electrical works associated with EV charging installations, including containment, cabling, distribution equipment, and connections.
• Obtain and analyse quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Produce accurate bills of quantities, take-offs, cost plans, and tender submissions.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and potential commercial opportunities.
• Carry out site visits and assess existing site conditions where required.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to clarify scope and technical requirements.
• Ensure estimates are completed within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain estimating databases, labour rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
• Support value engineering and identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality or compliance.
• Assist with handover of successful tenders to the commercial and project delivery teams.
• Maintain accurate records of tender information and estimating decisions.
