European Financial Controller – Multi-Country, Hands-On

Job summary

CFGI seeks an experienced European Financial Controller to lead the accounting and controllership for CFGI’s European entities, including France, Switzerland, Germany, with expansion to Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. This hands-on role will direct work across countries while personally performing a meaningful portion of the work.

The position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer / VP Finance and is based in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or recognized local country equivalent.
• Eight or more years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, ideally across public and private sectors.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on transactional levels.
• Knowledge of statutory reporting and corporate secretarial requirements across multiple European jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills; able to manage deadlines across countries and currencies.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end monthly close for all European entities other than the UK and Ireland.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and close procedures for each entity.
• Maintain US GAAP primary books and local GAAP books, keeping them reconciled and auditable.
• Manage accounts payable and coordinate monthly client invoicing in each entity.
• Prepare country-specific cash and cash flow forecasts.
• Oversee payroll across all European entities with internal and outsourced teams.
• Hands-on bookkeeping including month-end accruals and payroll journal entries.
• Partner with US and Global Controller on consolidated reporting and with UK Controller for coordination.
• Drive process improvements across European entities using NetSuite and Salesforce.
