Job summary

OPIS, a Dow Jones company, is seeking an energetic Associate Reporter to cover the European refined products markets. This entry-level role joins the pricing team to learn how to produce price assessments, news and analysis for daily publication.

You will accumulate spot market price transactions, verify data, develop industry sources, and produce real-time news and longer analytical content. The role also supports webinars and podcasts and involves occasional travel in a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in journalism or pricing analysis.
• Strong communication, writing, and networking skills with tight deadlines.
• Interest in commodity markets and ability to explain complex issues clearly.
• Ability to analyze data and market drivers quickly.
• Proficiency with Excel; Power BI or Python skills are a plus.
• Flexible to travel occasionally; hybrid work arrangement.

• Accumulate spot market price transactions from industry participants via instant messaging, phone, and email.
• Verify the legitimacy of the transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments.
• Develop and cultivate a range of industry sources.
• Produce stories for our real‑time news service as well as longer, more analytical content focusing on industry trends and emerging issues.
• Contribute to the production of webinars and podcasts.
• Support the regional and global team in promoting price assessments to the marketplace to allow them to be accepted and used as benchmark references.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets.
• Experience in Power BI or a coding language such as Python would be beneficial.
• Additional languages would be beneficial.
